Adding a termite sealant to an existing building: South Coast Property Case Study

During a recent renovation of a home on the South Coast of Sydney, we were engaged to apply a termite sealant barrier to an existing structure that required protection against subterranean termite activity.
In this case, a Kordon physical termite barrier could not be installed due to the nature of the renovation. Instead, we used a specialised termite sealant designed to block entry points and prevent termites from accessing the structure via underground tunnels. This approach is ideal for existing buildings where traditional barriers are not an option.
While termite sealants provide effective protection, we always recommend scheduling annual termite inspections to monitor for any activity or attempts to breach the barrier via alternative routes. Subterranean termites are persistent, and regular inspections ensure early detection and peace of mind.
