How to prepare for a termite inspection

How to prepare for a termite inspection?

There are many things you can do to prepare for a termite inspection. You can make our job more efficient and effective and quick, so you can get on with your day. Here are some quick and easy things you can do:

  • Move any easy-to-move items such as furniture away from walls and into the centre of the room.
  • Remove any items from under sinks and around pipes in both the bathroom and the kitchen – we need to check around your water sources.
  • Cut back any overgrown plants that are up against walls.
  • Clear crawl spaces – areas such as the basement or cellar (sub-floor), the roof cavity (roof void) and the garage all need to be accessible.
  • Note down when and where you spot signs of termites.
  • Do not disturb termites if you do find them.
  • Try to avoid mopping floors or cleaning walls, so we can assess any possible termite presence.
  • We advise against steaming hot showers or anything that may cause moisture.
  • Please have a clean and clutter-free house.
  • Restrain your pets.
  • Let your housemates or family know when we are coming.
  • Be careful not to disturb the source of the termites (if one has been found).
  • Move or cover any pictures you don’t want in the photos we take and use for our report.
